20 Would You Rather Questions for Kids (That Adults Secretly Enjoy Too)
Silly, super-powered and occasionally thoughtful. Twenty questions that work in a car, a queue or around a table.

Would You Rather is the best game to have in your back pocket with children. It costs nothing, needs no equipment, works in a car, a queue or around a table, and it can be stopped the second it stops being fun.
The trick is the questions. Most lists online are either far too tame to be interesting or quietly aimed at adults. These twenty sit in the middle: silly enough to get a six-year-old shouting, interesting enough that whoever is supervising does not have to pretend.
How to play it properly
- Read both options out, all the way through, before anyone answers.
- Everybody has to pick one. “Neither” is not allowed, and it is where all the fun is.
- Go round the group so the quietest person is not waiting for a gap.
- Then ask why. This is the actual game — the answer takes five seconds and the reason takes five minutes.
- Let them invent their own. Children write far stranger questions than any list does.
Silly ones to start with
These exist to get everybody talking. There is no clever answer and that is the point.
- Would you rather have a pet dinosaur or a pet dragon?
- Would you rather be able to talk to animals or talk to plants?
- Would you rather have hands for feet or feet for hands?
- Would you rather sneeze glitter or burp bubbles?
- Would you rather live in a treehouse or live in a cave?
- Would you rather have a slide instead of stairs or a pool instead of a garden?
Superpower ones
Reliable with every age group. Ask why afterwards — the reasons are usually better than the answers.
- Would you rather be invisible or be able to fly?
- Would you rather be super fast or super strong?
- Would you rather be able to freeze time or travel back in time?
- Would you rather breathe underwater or walk through walls?
- Would you rather never need to sleep or never need to eat?
- Would you rather have a robot that does your homework or a robot that tidies your room?
Food ones, which get surprisingly heated
Food questions split a room faster than anything else, and children commit to their answers far harder than adults do.
- Would you rather eat pizza every day or ice cream every day?
- Would you rather have everything taste like chocolate or nothing taste of anything at all?
- Would you rather give up sweets for a year or give up screens for a month?
- Would you rather eat a bowl of cold spaghetti or a plate of warm jelly?
Ones that make them think
Slip these in once everyone is warmed up. They are still fun, but there is an actual answer underneath them.
- Would you rather be the funniest person in your class or the kindest?
- Would you rather win every game you play or always have someone to play with?
- Would you rather be famous for something small or brilliant at something nobody notices?
- Would you rather know the answer to every question or be able to ask any question without being embarrassed?
Keeping it going
A round usually runs out of steam after fifteen or twenty questions, which is about right. If you want to keep going without writing new ones, our Would You Rather game deals them out one at a time and shows you how everyone else answered the moment you choose — which is its own argument, every time.
For older players who want the questions to get properly difficult, there are fifty more here, and the funniest choices ever quiz is exactly what it sounds like.
